Anomalous size effect in micron-scale CoCrNi medium-entropy alloy wire

چکیده

Micron-sized CoCrNi medium-entropy alloy (MEA) wires are successfully fabricated by Taylor-Ulitovsky method for the first time. The of two different sizes, with diameters 40 and 100 microns, exhibit an excellent combination tensile strength ductility. In-depth microstructure characterization indicates superior mechanical properties stem from synergy Lomer-Cottrell locks, nano-twinning HCP stacking. Surprisingly, anomalous size effect is presented in tension these microwires, i.e., much higher ductility observed micron-wire, sharp contrast to conventional single-principal element alloys only showing negligibly minor effect. Much density geometrically necessary dislocation accompanying heterogeneous deformation leading a high strain gradient, which turn joined multiple twins giving rise micron-wire.

MoNbTaV Medium-Entropy Alloy

Guided by CALPHAD (Calculation of Phase Diagrams) modeling, the refractory medium-entropy alloy MoNbTaV was synthesized by vacuum arc melting under a high-purity argon atmosphere. A body-centered cubic solid solution phase was experimentally confirmed in the as-cast ingot using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The measured lattice parameter of the alloy (3.208 Å) obeys the ru...

A High Resolution Wire Scanner for Micron-size Profile Measurements at the Slc’

_-.. . -. Fine conductive fibers have been used to measure transverse beam dimensions of a few microns at the Stanford Linear Collider (SLC). The beam profile is obtained by scanning a fiber across the beam in steps as small as 1 micron, and recording the secondary emission signal at each step, using a charge sensitive amplifier. We first outline the mechanical construction and the analogue ele...

Anomalous plasticity in the cyclic torsion of micron scale metallic wires.

The plasticity of micron scale Cu and Au wires under cyclic torsion is investigated for the first time by using a torsion balance technique. In addition to a size effect, a distinct Bauschinger effect and an anomalous plastic recovery, wherein reverse plasticity even occurs upon unloading, are unambiguously revealed. The Bauschinger effect and plastic recovery have been observed in molecular dy...

Micron Size Laser-wire System at the Atf Extraction Line, Recent Results and Atf-ii Upgrade

The KEK Accelerator test facility (ATF) [1] extraction line laser-wire system has been upgraded last year allowing the measurement of micron scale transverse size electron beams. The most recent measurements using the upgraded system are presented. The ATF-II extraction line design [2] call for the major upgrade of the existing laser-wire system. We report on the hardware upgrades, including th...

Effect of Molten Pool Size on Microstructure and Tensile Properties of Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing of Ti-6Al-4V Alloy

Wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) technique is a cost-competitive and efficient technology to produce large structure components in industry domains. Mechanical properties are mainly dominated by the microstructure of the components, which is deeply affected by the molten pool size. In this work, to investigate the effect of the molten pool size on microstructure and mechanical properties ...
